Vibraphonist Thomas Mackay gathered a few friends on the morning of Sept 23rd, 2025 to celebrate the music of John Coltrane at his home studio in Honolulu. What you hear on this recording is spontaneous interpretations of Trane. First Take. Jeffrey Barak on Drums, Ernie Provencher, electric upright bass, Thomas Mackay, Vibraphone. ( this was the first meeting of this particular trio as Jeffrey was new to the mix, which makes this even more intuitive as all 3 musicians are finding there space not only within the compositions of Trane but also experience the moment!
