The Mackay Project

The Mackay Project founded by vibraphonist/composer Thomas Mackay, aims to explore boundary-free music. Rooted in jazz, Mackay's sound is heavily influenced by Avantgarde Jazz, while blending improvisational psychedelia with Hip Hop, Neo Soul. 

The extended psychedelic improvisations are influenced by the time period of 2000 to 2002 when he toured and recorded with Jupiter Hollow, sharing the stage with members of the Grateful Dead ( Martin fierro), Son on Champlin(Terry Haggerty), Rider of the Purple Sage, and Vince Weilnick Missing man formation that featuring a young Steve Kimock and various others from the Bay area music scene icons. During period of time Jupiter Hollow was based in Eugene, Oregon and was to part in the last of the “ Acid Test” from the Legendary “ Ken Kesey and the Merry Prankster”

After a brief Hiatus from the music industry due to health issues he formed "The Mackay Project” as a Quartet, recorded his debut album of all original music in 2013 "Jackson" signing shortly after to Hammondbeat Records, touring Oregon, Northern California and Hawaii.

Shortly after the Hawaii tour Mackay and is wife Sheral relocated to Honolulu, Hawaii in 2015, reforming the project as a trio with electronic elements and visual media with monthly gigs at Jazzminds and ONGKing. 2025 he is back to the original quartet setting with a new element  the visual side of each show “ A old skool Liquid Light show” that is a live interaction mixing art and music together to create an even more Psychedelic experieence for the audience
